Amey Dettmer

Doors to Wellbeing
Special Projects Coordinator

Amey Dettmer is a Certified Peer Specialist and Advanced Level WRAP Facilitator from rural Pennsylvania.  Amey is currently the Special Projects Coordinator with Doors to Wellbeing National Consumer Technical Assistance Center and the Copeland Center. Previously Amey has been employed as a CPS supervisor and CPS providing direct peer support. She has been filmed for public service announcements and has been featured on the front page of her local newspaper, giving voice to the importance of peer support and the possibilities of recovery and wellness. Amey has participated in many Mental Health dignity and stigma reducing walks, including the National March for Dignity in Washington D.C.
Amey's passion is rooted in WRAP facilitation. As an ALWF, she has had opportunity to travel the U.S. to share the WRAP experience with many others. Fueling her passion, Amey is a person who credits her own wellness to the connection, mutual learning, and understanding that began in her life once she was introduced to this grass-roots recovery movement. WRAP and these community connections that were created were the major turning points toward wellness in her own recovery. As a young person herself, Amey has taken leadership in Youth WRAP and other Youth Peer Support related initiates such as participating in a National Youth Advisory Council and the development of Peer Generation - a youth-led peer movement and curriculum.
