Creating a Personal Vision Statement

This workshop will explore living life on purpose with a purpose. We will begin by examining the distinction between hopes, dreams and goals with an opportunity for a validating chat. We will then reflect on a 3-step process to guide each of us in developing a personal vision statement. For our time together, we will define a personal vision statement as a vivid description of a desired outcome that inspires, energizes and helps you move toward a self-identified hope or goal. We will finish our time together exploring a modified version of force field analysis. Each of us will have an opportunity to identify the driving forces that help us reach our vision statement and the restraining forces that hold us back and push us away from our goal. Finally, we will devise action plans and strategies to reduce or eliminate the restraining forces one by one.

Learning Objectives:
1. Examine personal dreams, hopes and goals and their influence on moving forward in life. 2. Create and develop a personal vision statement through a 3-step process. 3. Identify and evaluate personal driving forces (strengths, resources and motivations) that move one toward a specific goal.
4. Plan strategies for overcoming obstacles that hinder one's ability to move forward in life.
