As WRAP Facilitators we are committed to the Values and Ethics. One thing that I have learned in my years as an ALF, is we are always on a journey towards digging deeper into the V&Es. This workshop explores the importance of a strength-based approach when we facilitate WRAP, or even when we are living our everyday life. We will talk about the language we choose and it’s impact on our lives. When we aren’t mindful language can keep us tied to a problem/deficit based paradigm. However when we are attuned to the power of language, we can shift towards a paradigm that inspires hope. Words create worlds. What we focus on expands. These are phrases that we hear floating around out in the world. We will explore how language has a profound impact on creating the transforming culture that WRAP groups are known for. It’s brilliantly simple, yet it can be quite complex to learn to see things differently and to integrate strength-based thinking into our "glass half full" brains. We all have a way of seeing the world the through the lens of our thoughts, experiences and feelings, shaping our reality in the process.

Learning Objectives:
1. Learn clear definition of the strength-based approach.
2. Understand the power of language as far as tying us to a built on strengths paradigm, vs. one based on deficits.
3. Gain some ideas on how to integrate strength-based language into their WRAP workshops.
